3. Do we need to pay a deposit?

Yes, there are 2 types of deposit that will be required.

Booking Deposit (non refundable) – 25%, paid at the time of booking, unless the collection date is within 6 weeks, in which case the full balance will be due.

Security Deposit (refundable) – normally £500.00, paid at the time of collection. Security deposits will be refunded when the vehicle has been checked in and is deemed to be in the same state as it was when let out. Please allow up to 5 working days for the security deposit to appear in your bank.

All Deposits may be increased at the discretion of IMJ Motorhome staff.

We accept  Visa, MasterCard and Visa Debit.

We do not accept cash, prepaid cards, pay-as-you-go cards or cheque’s.


4. Is insurance included in the price?

Yes, fully comprehensive insurance is included within the hire charge and arranged for you with a trusted insurer.

Insurance excess is an amount payable by the hirer for each and every occurrence of damage or theft claimed on the vehicle, or any third party claim made against IMJ Motorhomes.

The insurance excess is £1450 but can be reduced by opting to pay Damage Limitation Waiver (DLW). This is not available to purchase online but can be purchased when you come to collect the motorhome. See below for more details.

The following are not covered by our Insurance and are chargeable on a case by case basis so the insurance excess will not apply:

  • Damage or repairs deemed as a result of abnormal, deliberate or negligent acts
  • Damage to the Awning
  • Damage to the Bike Rack
  • Lost or broken keys
  • Damage to windscreens and glass
  • Punctures or blowouts or damage to road wheels
  • Damage above windscreen height (2m or 6.6ft)
  • Vehicle brake in or vandalism

For ease of clarity our insurance does not include any personal insurance for the customer (including death or bodily injury to the driver) or cover any personal possessions. Although we do not offer this service, we do advice you to take out Personal Holiday Insurance.

Failure to abide by the terms and conditions of each hire may revoke the insurance cover and thus make the hirer fully liable. Full Terms and Conditions are available, at the Company Offices and incorporated within the Rental Agreement.


5. Can we reduce the insurance excess?

At the moment we do not offer a reduced insurance excess  (security deposit).


6. Can we take the motorhome abroad?

We do not currently offer this.


7. Do we have to pay extra to go abroad?

8. How old do I have to be to drive a motorhome?

Anyone between the ages of 25-74 who has held the required license, for at least 2 years, and has current driving experience can drive our motorhomes. If you are between 22 and 25 years of age please contact us as we may be able to offer insurance.


9. What licence do I need to drive a motorhome?

  • Motorhomes up to 3500 kg – Standard Full UK Driving Licence (category B or equivalent).

Each driver must produce their driving licence on collection of the vehicle. Details of any endorsements/penalty points for people who hold a UK driving licence are now kept online and not on the driving licence or paper counterpart. Each driver will need to visit www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence before arrival to create a licence check code which they must produce when they come in to collect the vehicle. The code is only valid for 21 days.

PLEASE NOTE: Should we discover that an uninsured driver is driving an IMJ Motorhomes Vehicle, then the hire will cease immediately and the hirer will be responsible for all costs plus an additional charge of £300.00 inclusive of VAT. For the avoidance of doubt if we have not seen, verified and recorded the licence details on the Rental Agreement then the driver is uninsured and unauthorised to drive an IMJ Motorhomes Vehicle.


10. What if I don’t have a UK driving licence?

Licence issued in the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) countries are treated equally. For ease of reference the Countries are listed below:

EU Countries
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.

EEA Countries
Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

Therefore, if you are from an EU/EEA country holding a valid community licence you can drive in line with the appropriate entitlement as per your driving licence.

It is a criminal offence to drive using a licence that is not valid in the UK.  In addition, if you do so, the insurance will be invalidated and you will be committing a further criminal offence of ‘driving without valid motor insurance’.

Non UK, EU, EEA Licences

Non UK, EU, EEA licences must be valid for the duration of the rental period. Should such foreign licences be in a foreign alphabet they must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit.

N.B. International Driving Permits issued in the UK are not valid in the UK.

11. What if I have penalty points on my licence?

Many endorsements are acceptable e.g., an SP30 (speeding).

However over 6 points or recent endorsements may cause a higher excess or refusal of hire, as will any serious convictions within the last 11 years. IMJ Motorhomes reserve the right to refuse hire for certain endorsements. If in doubt, please ring us with the details of your endorsements and conviction dates etc. at the earliest opportunity.


12. Can we have more than 1 driver?

Yes, you can have additional drivers, but there is an charge of £50 per additional driver.


13. Can we bring our pets?

Yes, you can bring up to 2 pets but there is an extra charge of £20 per pet.


14. Can we bring our bikes?

Yes, however the Fiat Ducato does not come with a fitted bike rack although there is plenty of room inside and a bunk bed can be lifted up to fit bikes.


15. Can we tow a car behind the motorhome?

No. None of our motorhomes have the capability to tow a car.


16. How long can we rent the motorhome for?

Our minimum hire periods are**:

  • 3 nights between the 16th September and the 30th June
  • 7 nights between the 1st July and the 15th September
  • Any more than 7 nights please contact us

17. Where can we collect the motorhome from?

The motorhome will be available for collection in Welshpool, Powys or Shrewsbury, Shropshire between 14.00 and 16.30. We can also deliver depending on location. There is an additional charge for this.

Unlike, most other rental companies we offer Monday to Saturday collections and returns (excluding Bank Holidays).

A Sunday or Bank Holiday return can also be arranged but can not be booked via the website. Please call the office on X to check this option is available.


18. What time can we collect the motorhome?

The motorhome will be available for collection between 14.00 and 16.30 but alternative times can be agreed if necessary.


19. What if we are late arriving to collect the motorhome?

In all instances, please call us and let us know as soon as you realise you’re not going to be on time. During our busy periods you may have been given an allocated slot, so if you’re late, you may have to wait longer to get away, while we deal with other customers.


20. Can IMJ Motorhomes deliver/collect the motorhome?

Yes, for certain periods we can arrange to deliver and/or collect your motorhome, but there will be a charge for this. You will need to call 07516 164267 or email Info@IMJMotorhomes.co.uk to arrange this, rather than booking on line. There will be an additional charge for delivery/collection depending on your location.


21. Can IMJ Motorhomes collect us from the airport/port/train station?

Yes we can offer this service for an additional fee.


22. Can we leave our car with IMJ Motorhomes?

Yes, you are welcome to leave your car however it is not a secured compound and entirly at your own risk. All we ask is that you leave your car keys with us so we can move it if necessary. Please note, that your vehicle and contents are left at entirely your own risk.


23. How do we book a motorhome?

With the following options available to you, booking a motorhome with IMJ Motorhomes couldn’t be easier:

24. What if we need to cancel our booking?

Should you need to cancel your booking the following charges will apply:

  • More than 6 weeks before: booking deposit will be retained
  • 6 weeks – 2 weeks: 50% of total hire charge will be retained
  • 2 weeks – No Show: 100% of total hire charge will be retained

Although we do not offer this service, we do advice you to take out Personal Holiday Insurance.


25. What paperwork do we need to bring when we collect the motorhome?

Please bring original documents as we do not accept photocopies.

  • Driving licence ‐ We must see each driver with their driving licence at the office.
  • Credit or Debit Card ‐ we need this for your refundable £500 security deposit.
  • 2 Additional forms of ID (showing current name and address, dated within the last 3 months)—i.e. utility bill, bank statement, council tax bill, official letter.
  • If Travelling outside of the UK ‐ your passport.
  • If visiting from outside the UK ‐ your passport.

26. Will IMJ Motorhomes show us how to use the motorhome?

Yes, we will give you a full demonstration on how to use all the on-board facilities. Experience has taught us what we need to cover. We will cover everything you need to know in a logical order.


27. How long will it take for IMJ Motorhomes to hand the motorhome over to us?

A normal handover, without any distractions will take 20 mins to 1/2 an hour.


28. Who needs to be present at the handover of the motorhome?

The hand-over is much smoother and quicker if it’s on a one to one basis so its best to nominate a “driving expert” in your party before we commence.


29. What if we damage or lose something from the motorhome?

Although we want you to enjoy your motorhome experience, it is only fair to say that we also want you to respect the motorhome and its contents.

You will be charged for any damage to the vehicle interior, exterior, or its contents, or loss of vehicle contents, howsoever caused. Before moving off, please ensure all skylights, roof vents, windows and doors are closed and secure. Ensure the aerial and steps are retracted. Ensure the gas is turned off and the power lead is unplugged and stowed away. When reversing we suggest you ask your passenger(s) to guide you from the outside of the vehicle. The awning offers sun protection only, so always roll it up in case of rain, wind or snow. Never leave the awning out at night or whilst you’re away from the vehicle.

In the event of any damage occurring to any part of the vehicle please inform IMJ Motorhomes immediately. This enables us to, wherever possible,  order the parts early enough, so we can fit them on your return, ready for the next customer.


30. What if we breakdown in the motorhome?

In the unlikely event of a breakdown of the vehicle or the equipment please call the office on X at your earliest convenience and we will advise you from there. Information on roadside assistance can be found in the vehicle information pack.


31. Where can we return the motorhome to?

The motorhomes must be returned to where it was collected.


32. What time do we need to return the motorhome?

To ensure the motorhome is available for the next hire, the motorhome must be returned between 08.30 and 10.30

Please be aware all motorhomes need to be cleaned inside and emptied of your personal belongings by 10:30. Please don’t arrive at 10:30 and start to unload as this can delay the next customer and the members of staff assigned to get the motorhome ready. Please consider when booking your campsites your distance from our premises to allow adequate time for your return journey.

Failing to return the motorhome on time will incur a charge currently based on 20% of the nightly hire rate. A minimum charge of 1 hour will apply.

There are no refunds for early return.

If flexability this can be pre-agreed on a case by case basis.


33. What if we are late returning the motorhome?

Failing to return the motorhome on time will incur a charge currently based on 20% of the nightly hire rate. A minimum charge of 1 hour will apply.

IN ALL CASES PLEASE CALL US AND LET US KNOW – there will still be a charge but at least we can warn the next hirer.


34. Do we have to pay for the fuel when we return the motorhome?

Yes, each motorhome is handed over with a FULL tank of Diesel. You are required to return the motorhome with a FULL tank of Diesel.

Failure to return the motorhome without the correct amount of fuel will result in a charge, equivalent to local forecourt prices, plus a 20% administrative charge for the inconvenience placed on Abacus for having to refuel the vehicle.

All our motorhomes run on Diesel. There is a note of the fuel type on the vehicle fuel caps. Any costs associated with using the wrong fuel are not covered by the insurance or breakdown cover and will be charged to the hirer.


35. Do we have to pay for the gas when we return the motorhome?

Yes, each motorhome is handed over with  a FULL gas system. As the motorhomes use a refillable LPG gas system, you are required to return the vehicle with a FULL gas system. Failure to do so will result in a set charge of £24


36. Do we have to pay for the motorhome to be cleaned when we return it?

Exterior – Only in extreme cases.

Interior – The vehicle must be returned with the interior clean and in the same condition as it was when handed over to you, otherwise a £100 charge will be made. This includes, but is not limited to the toilet, upholstery, cutlery, cooking utensils, oven, hob and grill.


37. Can I smoke in the Motorhome

NO – UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES

If we find any evidence of smoking in or around the Motorhome we will levy a fee of £500
